Eugenie Bouchard vs Bojana Jovanovski
Genie’s American tour has been quite poor. She lost her both openers, but she’ll try to win couple of matches in New Heaven. She will need to work hard if she wants to record her first win at the American tour, because Jovanovski is not an easy opponent. This will be good test for Eugenie. Serb have patient hard-hitting game and she’s mostly baseliner. Bouchard should use dropshots to make Jovanovski come to the net and to disrupt her game. With Eugenie’s very aggressive game, I don’t see how she can lose this. I think that every set will be tough, but Bouchard will prevail.
Prediction: Bouchard in 2 tight sets
Sara Errani vs Garbine Muguruza
Sara’s passive game is pretty strong on clay, but too weak for american fast courts. Garbine will exploit Sara’s lack of power with her powerful groundstrokes. However, if Errani get back lot of balls and Garbine make to many errors, things could go in different direction. Only thing that Errani can do is to disrupt Muguruza’s rhythm with her moonballs, dropshots and slices. I think this will be very interesting match, but power will prevail.
Prediction: Muguruza in 3 rollercoaster sets
Elina Svitolina vs Shuai Peng
Elina played fantastic in Cincinnati. She reached QFs, beating Kvitova and Suarez Navarro along the way. Svitolina is really growing in a steady and consistent player. Peng is always unpredictable and specific opponent. She have two-handed forehand and her shots are hard to predict. However, Chinese isn’t really good mentally. She almost always loses tight matches and I think this won’t be exception. This will be interesting match with lot of winners and lot of errors, too. I think that Peng will lead in third set, but Svitolina will come back and eventually win.
Prediction: Svitolina in 3 tight sets
Dominika Cibulkova vs Andrea Petkovic
This should be interesting. Dominika was playing fabulous in the first quarter of season 2014, but now she’s not playing well. Petkovic plays consistent, but she lost last week to Stephens pretty easy. I’m not sure what will happen here. Dominika have explosive power in her strokes, but her serve is anything except explosive. Petko needs to exploit Domi’s slow serve to win easy points. If Cibulkova is on, she’s pretty dangerous, but I haven’t seen her playing well in a while. We’ll see what will happen here, but I think that Petko will be stronger in the end.
Prediction: Petkovic in 3 sets
Zahlavova-Strycova df. Bencic in 3 sets
Soler-Espinosa df. Rybarikova in 3 sets
Stosur df. Nara in 2 sets
Suarez Navarro df. Begu in 2 sets( one tight, one easy )
Flipkens df. Doi in 2 tight sets
Wozniacki df. Bacsinszky in 2 easy sets
