Petra Kvitova vs Samantha Stosur
Petra played pretty good against Zahlavova-Strycova. She played really aggressive and calm. Stosur struggled against Flipkens, but I think that she played well. Kvitova will control game with her powerful shots. Samatha needs to use lot of variations do disrupt Petra’s rhythm. Petra is tall, so Samantha’s topspin forehand won’t damage her. Slices, however, could make a problem for Petra. This will be close match, but I think that Kvitova is just more powerful. She should win this, unless self-destructive Petra shows up.
Prediction: Kvitova in 3 sets
Camila Giorgi vs Magdalena Rybarikova
Giorgi ended up 4-match losing streak with style. She reached SFs at the Premier level tournament and she will have a chance to go further. Giogi will control game with her high-risk shots. Magdalena needs to slow down Giorgi with backhand slices and then to attack with her forceful forehand. When Camila is on, she’s pretty unstoppable. Unless Magdalena manages to disrupt Camila’s mind, this is match that Giorgi will win.
Prediction: Giorgi in 3 tight sets
US OPEN QUALIFYING – FINAL ROUND
Today I will analyse some qualifying matches. You’ll have a chance to find out something about these players. Who knows, maybe some of them are future stars. 🙂
Francoise Abanda vs Misa Eguchi
Abanda played pretty well in qualies. She lost just four games in 2 matches. Misa’s matches were tougher, but she didn’t lose a set. Abanda is an aggressive player with powerful forehand and solid net skills. Eguchi is a patient player who use moonballs to disrupt her opponents rhythm and she’s attacking when she have a chance. Abanda will be aggressor in this match and Misa’s patient game will make Abanda sometimes gets impatient. If Abanda manages to stay calm and steady, she can win this. She have so many weapons and she’s such a potential.Abanda is full of self-confidence because of her match with Cibulkova. However, Misa is not an easy opponent. This will be a good indication to see if Francoise is ready to reach the top.
Prediction: Abanda in 3 sets
Alexandra Panova vs Paula Kania
Alexandra played solid at US Open qualifying. She lost one set against Gasparyan in first round. Paula played well against Abduraimova, Kiick retired from her match against Paula at 0:3 down. Alexandra is an aggressive player who is using deep shots and drop shots after that( If her deep shot didn’t finish a point ). Paula is really talented player and the only reason she’s not that well ranked is because she don’t have enough power in her shots that will allow her to come to the net. She’s really playing good at the net and she showed it against Venus Williams. If Alexandra can keep Paula behind the baseline, she have a good chance for victory. However, I don’t think that Paula will be passive. She’ll try to disrupt Panova’s rhythm and then she’ll go to the net. This will be close match, but I think that Paula will survive another day at US Open.
Prediction: Kania in 3 tight sets
