TOP 5 matches from WTA Finals 2014!!!

~Top 5 matches!

5. Caroline Wozniacki df. Maria Sharapova 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 6-2

Very long and very interesting match. It wasn’t high-quality match, but it was very exciting and interesting! Sharapova kept coming back, but she was too tired in that third set.

4.Maria Sharapova df. Agnieszka Radwanska 7-5 6-7(4) 6-2

Another long and exciting match. Radwanska came back from 1-5 and 3 match points down in 2nd set, but Sharapova eventually prevailed in 3rd set. That 2nd set that Agnieszka managed to win gave her a ticket to the SFs!

3.Serena Williams df. Caroline Wozniacki 2-6 6-3 7-6(6)

Highest quality match of the tournament. It was tight and interesting, but Serena showed why she’s still world number 1. Really interesting match, but there are 2 more interesting matches!

2.Serena Williams df. Simona Halep 6-3 6-0

Serena beaten Simona to win WTA Finals for the 3rd consecutive time. Serena was just too good, but Simona was far from her best. This match was Serena’s revenge!

1.Simona Halep df. Serena Williams 6-0 6-2

This match is probably most interesting and surprising match of this tournament. Simona Halep destroyed Serena Williams in a weird match. Serena played very bad, but Simona was just too good!

~Now…Best shots of WTA Finals 2014!

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Agnieszka vs Caroline, Maria vs Petra, Serena vs Eugenie

I don’t know what to say. Matches are impossible to predict. I don’t know how to write my predictions anymore. Today, Simona Halep beaten Serena Williams 6-0 6-2!!! Current world no. 1 played probably worst match ever but Simona played very solid. Williams just couldn’t find the court with her shots and her movement was poor, especially in the first set. Match between Serena and Simona is still haunting me. New era has come! Later that day, Ana Ivanovic defeated Eugenie Bouchard 6-1 6-3. It was great performance by Ana and again, poor performance by Bouchard. She played a little bit better than against Simona but Canadian was still far away from her best. Today I’ll do short predictions without pictures because I’m not ready to write my full predictions yet. Serena vs Halep really proved me that matches are IMPOSSIBLE to predict. I’m hoping that I’ll be right about these 3 matches. I’ll write my standard predictions tomorrow. Thank you for reading my blog and for supporting me. Love y’all ! 🙂

~Agnieszka Radwanska df. Caroline Wozniacki in 3 sets — This is really risky pick but I’ll believe in Aga this time. She played amazing against Petra and she have a chance to win this match too. Caro played very solid against Maria but Radwanska won’t defeat herself like Sharapova. Wozniacki can win this but I’m choosing Agnieszka this time!

~Maria Sharapova df. Petra Kvitova in 3 tight sets — Maria played bad against Wozniacki but she showed great fighting spirit and desire. Petra was far from her best but I think she’ll play better against Maria. Both are powerful but Maria is stronger mentally so I believe she’ll win this in the end. She’ll be extra motivated because she can become world no. 1 after this tournament!

~Serena Williams df. Eugenie Bouchard in 2 very tight sets — Something is telling me that Serena is still not done here. She played poor against Halep but she can bounce back against out-of-form Bouchard. Williams at least played good against Ivanovic. Eugenie played poor in both of her matches. I think that Serena will win but anything is possible. Maybe Serena have some injury or illness. Maybe Kerber will play this match instead of Serena. Who knows!? Probably no one.

See you all tomorrow! 🙂

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Maria vs Caroline, Petra vs Agnieszka

Maria Sharapova vs Caroline Wozniacki

Caroline Wozniacki

Maria had fantastic season, especially on the clay courts. She won 4 titles( Stuttgart, Madrid, French Open and Beijing ) and reached 4 SFs( Brisbane, Paris, Miami and Cincinnati) . She had few shocking losses( Bacsinszky, Giorgi etc. ) but Sharapova had great year overall. Caro had a great year too. Before Wimbledon she wasn’t in great form but she was on fire after that. She won 1 title( Istanbul ); reached 2 finals( US Open and Tokyo ); 5 SFs( Dubai, Monterrey, Eastbourne, Cincinnati and Wuhan) and 2 QFs( Miami and Montreal). Wozniacki is now playing her best tennis again. Maria leads in their head-2-head but Caroline won their only match this year. Wozniacki beaten Sharapova in 4th round of the US Open 6-4 2-6 6-2. Sharapova will be the aggressor in this match. With her massive groundstrokes she will be able to control most of the rallies. She improved her movement a lot and she covers the baseline very well. She’s probably mentally strongest WTA player in this moment. Wozniacki is playing her defensive tennis very well but now she is able to be aggressive when she wants. She’s really fast and she have a really good serve. With some good net play, Caroline is a tricky opponent for Maria. This will be tight match but Maria will manage to win it in the end.

Prediction: Sharapova in 3 tight sets

Agnieszka Radwanska vs Petra Kvitova

Agnieszka’s season was full of ups and downs but she had some great results, especially before French Open. She won 1 title( Montreal ); reached 1 final( Indian Wells ); 4 SFs( Australian Open, Doha, Katowice and Madrid ) and 5 QFs( Miami, Stuttgart, Rome,Cincinnati and Seoul). She’s coming to Singapore with low confidence but maybe she can turn around her bad form here. Petra’s season before Wimbledon was forgettable but after that, she’s playing amazing. She won 3 titles( Wimbledon, New Haven and Wuhan ); reached 1 final( Beijing ); 2 SFs( Sydney and Madrid) and 3 QFs( Doha, Miami and Eastbourne ). She had a lot of shocking losses but she recovered well. Kvitova leads against Radwanska in their head-2-head 5-1 but their last match was last year. Radwanska is just powerless against really powerful hitters like Kvitova and Serena. Petra will play her standard risky game. Her massive serves and strokes will allow her to control almost every rally. She added some slices, drop shots and net play in her game and it’s very nice to see some tricks that will make Petra’s game even more effective. When she’s on, she’s unstoppable. But when she can’t find her shots, she’s very beatable. Aga is probably hoping that Petra will play her self-destructive game. Radwanska will try to disrupt Petra’s rhythm with her endless retrieving and some magical shots. Radwanska form is really questionable because her last losses were against Vinci, Garcia and Lepchenko. Playing well or not, I think that Petra won’t have any problems against Radwanska.

Prediction: Kvitova in 2 sets

BONUS!!! – Battle of WTA rising stars( Finals )

Monica Puig df. Saisai Zheng in super tie-break

Monday results:

~Serena Williams df. Ana Ivanovic 6-4 6-4 — Great match with lot of amazing rallies. Main difference was that Serena had 12 aces and 4 double faultsa while Ana had o aces and 7 double faults. Serena is hungry. She really wants this title!

~Simona Halep df. Eugenie Bouchard 6-2 6-3 — Solid match by Simona but Bouchard was totally out of her rhythm. Both had 11 winners but Halep had 11 unforced errors while Eugenie had 30! Very weak performance by Canadian.

Wuhan 2014 – Finals

Eugenie Bouchard vs Petra Kvitova

Petra played amazing against Svitolina, especially in the first set. She was firing her shots all over the court. Elina played great too, but Petra was too good. Eugenie was very impressive too. She beaten in-form Wozniacki in 2 sets. Bouchard was so aggressive and calm and that really helped her. Caro wasn’t on her best, but she still played pretty well. Eugenie was just too good. Now we have a re-match of the Wimbledon final this year. That was one of the best performances I ever saw – Petra on her best. Bouchard was really good, but Petra played perfect. Both will try to play aggressive, but Petra is more powerful, of course. Both played great in Wuhan, but Petra was a little bit better. If Petra play like she played throughout this tournament, she’ll have no problems in this match. Eugenie will fight, but Kvitova is in great form now so I’ll think she’ll win this match in 2 sets.

Prediction: Kvitova in 2 sets

BEIJING 2014 – DAY 1

Wuhan 2014 – Semi-finals

Petra Kvitova vs Elina Svitolina

Petra played superb against Garcia. She wasn’t broken for the whole match and she faced just 2 break points in one game. Her serve was especially on fire, but her strokes too. Garcia played well too, but Petra was just too good. She didn’t give Caroline a rhythm because she was firing her massive shots all over the court. Great performance by Petra. Elina is a positive surprise of this tournament. In the QFs, she beaten Angelique Kerber. Kerber wasn’t on her best, but Elina played great. She was really aggressive and consistent enough to beat German with never-give-up attitude. This match should be interesting, especially because Elina won their only meeting this year in straight sets! But I must mention that Petra played horrible in that match. She just couldn’t find a court with her shots. Petra will be the aggressor in this match and she’ll decide almost everything. Svitolina is an aggressive player, but she’s just not powerful as Kvitova. Petra played great in Wuhan, so I think she’ll win this match in straight sets. Elina can just hope that Petra will have one of her bad days.

Prediction: Kvitova in 2 tight sets

Eugenie Bouchard vs Caroline Wozniacki

Bouchard played solid against Cornet. She won in straight sets, but it won’t be easy. Alize was really tired, but she fought well. Genie was just too solid in that match. She played really aggressive. Caroline was solid too. She beaten another surprise of the tournament – Timea Bacsinszky. It wasn’t easy, but Wozniacki was just too steady and calm in the end. She won after comeback. Solid performance by Caroline too. Genie will be the aggressor in this match. With her powerful shots and some good volleys, she can control the game. Wozniacki will be consistent from the beginning till the end. Her steady shots with lot of counter-power and her great movement will keep Bouchard out of her rhythm. Wozniacki will chase down almost everything, that’s sure. With that consistency, she’ll beat very aggressive Eugenie. It won’t be easy, but Caroline will come through.

Prediction: Wozniacki in 3 sets

WTA Wuhan 2014 – Quarter-finals

Petra Kvitova vs Caroline Garcia

0,,12781~13132342,00 760x487_caroline-garcia-wuhan-chine-21-septembre-2014

Petra played very well at this tournament. She had a bye in the 1st round. In the second round she beaten in-form Knapp who recently won her first WTA title in Tashkent in straight sets – 6:3 6:0! In the 3rd round she beaten another in-form player – fellow Czech Karolina Pliskova. This match was much tighter than Petra’s previous match. She won in 3 sets – 6:3 2:6 6:4. Tight match, but Petra was in control in the 1st and the 3rd set. Garcia’s road to the QFs was much more difficult than Kvitova’s. In the first round she beaten Venus Williams who is in good form this year in 3 very tight sets – 6:4 4:6 7:6(6). Venus held match point at 5-3, but Garcia turned the match around. She showed how much she improved mentally. In the 2nd round she beaten consistent Agnieszka Radwanska in 3 very tight sets, again – 3:6 7:6(4) 7:6(7). Another 3rd set tie-break victory against another very experienced opponent. Wow Caroline! Wow! Then, in the 3rd round she beaten big-serving Coco Vandeweghe in 2 sets – 6:3 6:2. This match should be interesting. Both players are hard-hitters. Petra is more impatient, but more powerful too. Both have great serve and powerful strokes, especially forehand. Petra’s advantage is her tricky left-handed serve. Caroline’s advantage is her better movement than Petra’s. I think that this will be very tight match, but I believe that Garcia will win. She is very talented young player and she have all the weapons to overplay Petra. We’ll see am I right. When Kvitova is on her best, she’s unstoppable. However, she wasn’t on her best since Wimbledon final so I believe that Garcia have a real chance here.

Prediction: Garcia in 3 very tight sets

Eugenie Bouchard vs Alize Cornet

Bouchard played pretty good in Wuhan. She had a bye in the first round. In the second round, she beaten big-hitting Mona Barthel in 3 tight sets – 4:6 6:3 6:4. Tight match, but Eugenie fought well. In the 3rd round she beaten always-dangerous American Alison Riske who beaten Sara Errani in straight sets in the previous round. Eugenie won that match in 2 sets -6:2 6:3. Cornet came from Guangzhou where was extremely hot to Wuhan. She had no real break, so I thought she would be very tired and that she’ll lose early. However, she surprised me. In the first round, she beaten comeback player Romina Oprandi in 2 easy sets – 6:1 6:2. In the second round, Serena retired her match against Alize at 6:5 because of illness. It’s basically third time that Cornet beaten Serena this year, but I won’t count this last victory. In the 3rd round, Alize edged wild card Kirsten Flipkens in 3 sets – 7:6(4) 1:6 6:3. Flipkens had set points in the 1st set and 3-1 lead in te 3rd, but Cornet fought well and she really deserved this victory. These 2 played once this year and Genie won in 2 tight sets in the 4th round of Wimbledon. Eugenie will be more aggressive. She’ll step in and she’ll go for her shots. Alize will fight with her topspin forehand, tricky slices and nice footwork. I think that Alize will be tired, so she won’t be able to trouble Bouchard. I believe that Eugenie will win in straight sets.

Prediction: Bouchard in 2 tight sets

Other predictions:

-Kerber df. Svitolina in 2 sets – Kerber struggled in her 2nd round match against Diyas, but she played great against Zahlavova-Strycova. Svitolina beaten Giorgi and Lisicki in straight sets and then Muguruza gave her a walkover. Elina will be more aggressive, but Kerber will be great in defense and she’ll counter Elina’s power, so I believe than Angelique will win this match in 2  sets.

-Wozniacki df. Bacsinszky in 3 tight sets – Wozniacki struggled against CSN, but she played great against DellAcqua. Timea was great in all of her matches, especially against Makarova and Sharapova. Timea will be more aggressive and she’ll control the game with her steady, but powerful shots. However, Caroline’s defensive skills will be too much for her.

US Open 2014 – day 6

Analysis of the previous day:

~Sara Errani beaten Venus Williams in thriller 6:0 0:6 7:6(5). Venus played poorly in the first and amazing in the second set. Third set was very exciting. Sara was better in the tie-break and she won. I’m fan of Venus, but Sara fought really hard and she deserved this victory. 🙂

~Mirjana Lucic Baroni beaten Simona Halep 7:6(6) 6:2. Simona lead 5-2 and she had 3 sets points, but since then, Mirjana played amazing. Lucic-Baroni won 11 of the next 14 games. She played aggressive and with lot of motivation. Looks like Mirjana is rolling back the years!

~Rising star Belinda Bencic beaten Angelique Kerber 6:1 7:5. Bencic was so aggressive and she deserved this victory so much. Kerber was a little bit passive, but all credit to Bencic. She saved 5 set points in the second set!

~Shuai Peng continue her good form with straight set victory over Roberta Vinci 6:4 6:3. She’ll play against Lucie Safarova who edged Alize Cornet in thriller 6:3 6:7(3) 6:4.

~Caroline Wozniacki beaten Andrea Petkovic 6:3 6:2. She’ll play against Maria Sharapova. Maria beaten Sabine Lisicki in straight sets 6:2 6:4.

~Jelena Jankovic lost just one game en route to the 4th round. She beaten Johanna Larsson 6:1 6:0.

Now it’s time for predictions! 🙂

Serena Williams vs Varvara Lepchenko

serena_729-620x349 Varvara+Lepchenko+Olympics+Day+4+Tennis+uIoUE3247YVl

Serena Williams was impressive in her victory over Vania King. Even thought it was windy, Serena lost just one game and she won 6:1 6:0. Lepchenko was impressive too – she beaten Mona Barthel 6:4 6:0. Serena will be dominant in this match. She’ll be firing her aces and groundstrokes all over the court. Varvara needs to play as aggressive as she can. She must try to discrupt Serena’s rhythm, but it’s far from easy. If you send to Serena slow shot or moonball she will score a winner, for sure. Varvara is left-handed, but I doubt it will help her against Serena. This match will be interesting, but I don’t believe that Lepchenko will be able to take more than 4 or 5 games from Serena.

Prediction: Serena in 2 sets

Petra Kvitova vs Aleksandra Krunic

wpid-petra-kvitova-04 sp-krunic

Petra played solid against Cetkovska. She made a lot of errors, but she was calm and steady. Aleksandra managed to beat American Medison Keys on the Louis Armstrong court after saving 5 set points in first set 7:6(5) 2:6 7:5. This girl really have a heart of lion! Keys and Kvitova have similar play style, but Kvitova is lot better than Keys in this moment. Petra will play aggressive as always, she’ll serve aces and she’ll control game with her powerful groundstrokes. Aleksandra needs to play aggressive, but not too risky. She must extend the rallies if she wants to harm Petra. Aleksandra will fight until the end, but Petra will be the winner in the end. However, there’s were lot of upsets yesterday, but I’ll be surprised if Kvitova lose this match.

Prediction: Kvitova in 2 tight sets

Eugenie Bouchard vs Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova

Both players struggled in the second round. Eugenie edged Sorana Cirstea 6:2 6:7(4) 6:4. Barbora beaten Monica Niculescu 4:6 6:4 6:2. Eugenie will be the aggressor in this match. She’ll put lot of pressure on Barbora. Zahlavova-Strycova needs to find her way to the net. The best way to do that against Bouchard is probably with backhand slice or with deep topspin forehand. Zahlavova needs to use lot of dropshots and slices to disrupt Eugenie’s rhythm. Bouchard will go for her shots and that’s something that Barbora can’t stop. This will interesting match, but Eugenie will win in two sets.

Prediction: Bouchard in 2 sets( one tight, one easy)

Casey DellAcqua vs Karolina Pliskova

Casey-Dellacqua-and-Shaun-McManus-Love-Roger-Federer-article 0,,12781~11847355,00

Casey struggled against Wang, but she managed to win that match 4:6 6:4 6:2. Karolina beaten Ana Ivanovic in tight two sets 7:5 6:4. Both players are playing aggressive tennis. Pliskova is more powerful, but Casey is faster. Karolina have a massive serve and powerful groundstrokes, but her movement is little bit robotic. However, Czech is enough powerful to mask her weakness. Casey is aggressive player with good volleys, but she struggled against low-ranked opponents, so I believe that Pliskova will be the winner of this match. But who knows, maybe Casey surprise me!

Prediction: Pliskova in 3 sets

Other predictions:

Penetta df. Gibbs in 3 sets

Azarenka df. Vesnina in 2 sets

Kanepi df. Suarez Navarro in 3 tight sets

Makarova df. Diyas in 2 sets
