WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Serena vs Simona, Peng/Hsieh vs Black/Mirza

Sorry for the lack of updates last 3 days. I was watching all the matches this week and I’ll do recap of WTA Finals 2014. Now I’ll do preview for Serena vs Simona and it’s not my last prediction this season. I’ll do some predictions for Sofia next week and then I’ll write about rising stars that have a lot of potential, but they are still really young. Some of them are already famous, some of them still wait to break through. But now…Serena vs Simona preview! 🙂

Serena Williams vs Simona Halep

AP SINGAPORE WTA FINALS S TEN SGP673Singapore Tennis WTA Finals

Serena player really great, but Simona embarrassed her this week by her impressive victory. First, Serena beaten  Ivanovic 6-4 6-4 in an really interesting and close match. Main difference was that Serena had 12 aces and Ana had 7 double faults! It looked like Serena is again on her best and then it happened…Simona destroyed Serena in an one-sided match 6-0 6-2. It was one of the worst performances by Williams EVER, but Simona played absolutely stunning. She saved all break points she faced and she showed the world of what she’s capable of. Serena was clearly disappointed by her performance, but she bounced back in her next match. She outclassed Bouchard 6-1 6-1. It was great performance by Williams, but there was nothing else that Serena could do. It all depended on Simona and Ana. Simona was really solid in her 1st match against Bouchard. Halep beaten her 6-2 6-3. Halep wasn’t on her best in that match, but she still managed to beat Eugenie easily. After that, as I already mentioned, Simona destroyed Serena and it was her 1st win against world no. 1. Then Simona played against Ivanovic. All was clear – If Ana beat Simona in straight sets she goes to the SFs; if Simona takes only one set Serena goes to the SFs. Ana managed to win extremely tight first set after she came back from 2-5 down. She saved set point in tie-break too. Simona won second set and helped Serena to reach SFs. Ana eventually won in the end 7-6(7) 3-6 6-3 but she was already out of tournament. Credit to Simona for her fighting spirit. She knew she reached SFs, but she played pretty well and fought well. Serena beaten her best friend Wozniacki in SFs in extremely tight and high-quality match 2-6 6-3 7-6(6). It was one of the best matches this year. Simona played absolutely stunning against Radwanska. She won 6-2 6-2. Aga was too passive but Simona played extremely well. This match will be the rematch of their RR match! Simona won’t win easily this time, that’s sure. Both are playing really aggressive. Simona showed that she have enough power to be aggressive against everyone on WTA tour, especially in her matches against Serena and Ivanovic. Williams is more powerful, but Halep is faster! This match is so hard to predict, but I think that Serena will avenge her embarrassing loss to Halep. Simona played superb this week so she really have a chance in this match. This match will be extremely close but I believe that Serena will prevail. I’m just hoping that this will be high-quality and interesting match!

Prediction: Serena in 3 tight sets

Shuai Peng/Su-Wei Hsieh vs Cara Black/Sania Mirza

india-s-sania-mirza-her-zimbabwean-partner-cara-167749

Short preview: Peng and Hsieh have a chance to defend their WTA Finals title. They’ll play for the trophy against Black and Mirza. Both teams have a lot of experience, but I must say that Peng and Hsieh are favorites. Shuai and Su-Wei have a unique play style and they’re a great team. Both play forehand and backhand with two hands and their play style is a mix of tricky lobs and moonballs, wicked slices, powerful groundstrokes and great net skills. Sania’s and Cara’s play style is pretty aggressive. They have powerful shots and of course, great net skills. Hsieh and Peng have more variety so I believe that they will win this match!

Prediction: Peng/Hsieh in 3 sets

US Open 2014 – Semi-finals

Analysis of the quarter-finals:

~Peng Shuai beaten Belinda Bencic 6:2 6:1. It was stunning performance from Peng. She was patient and aggressive and she really destroyed Belinda. However, both ladies played amazing at the US Open 2014, so both deserve a credit. Well done Peng and Bencic! 🙂

~Caroline Wozniacki beaten Sara Errani 6:0 6:1. Sara was solid, but Wozniacki played superb! She destroyed Sara. However, both ladies played excellent at this tournament and they really deserved to be in the last 8 at this year’s US Open. Well done Wozniacki and Errani! 🙂

~Ekaterina Makarova beaten Victoria Azarenka 6:4 6:2. It was a great match by Makarova and great win for her, but I think that both ladies are capable of playing even better tennis. They’ve played amazing throughout the tournament and they really have my respect.Well done Makarova and Azarenka! 🙂

~Serena Williams beaten Flavia Pennetta 6:3 6:2. Serena played amazing. Pennetta played pretty good match too. Both ladies deserved to be in the last 8 at this tournament and they really played great for the whole tournament. Well done Williams and Pennetta! 🙂

Caroline Wozniacki vs Shuai Peng

_77292861_023702309-1 peng-shuai

Wozniacki played amazing against Errani. Even thought Errani played solid, Wozniacki beaten her 6:0 6:1. Looks like Caro is back and she’s playing better than ever. Peng played amazing too. She beaten Bencic 6:2 6:1. Peng is now in her first Grand Slam semi-final and she really deserves it. This will be very interesting match. Both ladies played amazing at this tournament. Peng didn’t drop a set the whole tournament. Wozniacki is now more aggressive than ever and I really like her play style now. Peng changed her play style too. She’s mixing her game now. She combine her aggressive shots with drop shots, net play and defensive moonballs. I really likethe way she is playing now. But to be honest, I’ve always liked these two ladies, especially Peng. Both looks like really nice persons. I’m hoping that this will be high-quality match and that Peng won’t be nervous. Wozniacki played at the SFs of the Grand slam before, so I believe that she’ll win this. But Peng is not going down without a fight!

Prediction: Wozniacki in 3 tight sets

Serena Williams vs Ekaterina Makarova

serena-williams-celebrates-her-6-3-6-3-win-over-varvara-lepchenko-during-their-2014-us-open-womens-singles-match-on-august-30-2014-in-new-york makarova_3026442i

Serena was impressive against Flavia. She played pretty good and she’s a favorite to win US Open 2014. Ekaterina was impressive too. She beaten Azarenka 6:4 6:2. I’m happy to see that Makarova finally gets what she deserves. Serena is the favourite here, but Makarova beaten her in past. Makarova beaten Serena once, but it was stunning victory. It was at the Australian Open 2012. It means that Makarova have Grand slam win over Serena. Both ladies played amazing at this year’s US Open. None of  them lost a set for a whole tournament. Serena will be more aggressive in this match, but Ekaterina will be pretty aggressive too. I’m hoping that both ladies will give their best and that we’ll see a fabulous match. Ekaterina have a game to trouble Serena, but I don’t think that she’ll beat her. Serena is hungry. She wants to win this US Open and I believe she’ll do it.

Prediction: Serena in 2 tight sets

US Open 2014 – day 9

Analysis of the previous day:

~Flavia Pennetta beaten Casey DellAcqua 7:5 6:2. Good match for Flavia, but Casey made lot of errors. Looks like Flavia play her best tennis at the US Open. Well done Flavia! 🙂

~Serena Williams beaten Kaia Kanepi 6:3 6:3. Good match for both players. Sound unbelievable, but this is first Grand Slam QF for Serena this year. Well done Serena! 🙂

~Ekaterina Makarova beaten Eugenie Bouchard 7:6(2) 6:4. Makarova is very underrated players, she deserves more attention. Well done Ekaterina! 🙂

~Victoria Azarenka edged Aleksandra Krunic 4:6 6:4 6:4. Very tight match, but as I predicted, Victoria won. Aleksandra played amazing at the US Open and she’ll definitely climb up her ranking! Azarenka was just a little better in the end. Well done Victoria! 🙂

Quarter-finals predictions( day 9 )

Shuai Peng vs Belinda Bencic

Shuai Pengbelinda-bencic-2014-u.s.-open-tennis-tournament-in-new-york-city-2nd-roud_6

Shuai played amazing at the US Open 2014. She didn’t lose a set all week. Peng beaten Zheng, Radwanska, Vinci and Safarova along the way to the QFs. Shuai beaten one top 5 player – Radwanska.  Belinda played pretty well too. Bencic beaten Wickmayer, Nara, Kerber and Jankovic along the way. She beaten two top 10 players – Kerber and Jankovic. This is surprise QF. I think that no one would predict this. Peng have powerful two-handed strokes, good volleys, good drop shots and she’s serving pretty well. Bencic proved that she’s matured mentally because she saved set points against Kerber and Jankovic. She’s playing pretty aggressive too. This will interesting match, but Peng is more experienced so I believe that she’ll win this match. We’ll see if she’s ready to reach her first WTA semi-final. But Bencic played pretty well lately, so this will be very tight match.

Prediction: Peng in 3 tight sets

Caroline Wozniacki vs Sara Errani

hi-res-6237f53e859be97bfbcd1847f2454a4e_crop_north 628x471

Caroline played pretty well at the US Open 2014. Wozniacki beaten Rybarikova, Sasnovich, Petkovic and Sharapova along the way to the QFs. The most impressive was her victory over Sharapova. Sara played pretty well too.She had tough matches, but she managed to win them. Errani beaten Flipkens, Rodionova, Venus and Lucic-Baroni along the way. If you want to beat Sara, you need power. Luckily for Wozniacki, she have that power now. The main difference between this two is their serve – Wozniacki is serving pretty well, while Sara is serving pretty bad. Both players are mostly defensive players, but I think that Caroline will be the aggressor in this match. This will be interesting, but Wozniacki will win in straight sets!

Prediction: Wozniacki in 2 tight sets

Serena leads with 43 votes, Wozniacki is second with 10 and Azarenka and Peng are third with 2 votes.

US Open 2014 – day 7

Analysis of the previous day:

~Aleksandra Krunic beaten no.3 seed Petra Kvitova 6:4 6:4. Aleksandra played amazing, she chased down everything, even those massive shots from Petra. I’m really surprised that this girl was no. 145 before this tournament. She’ll enter top 100 after the US Open for the first time in her career. Well done! 🙂

~Serena, Azarenka, Penetta and Makarova safely defeated their opponents in straight sets. Serena beaten Lepchenko 6:3 6:3. Azarenka beaten Vesnina 6:1 6:1. Penetta beaten Gibbs 6:4 6:0. Makarova beaten Diyas 6:4 6:2. 🙂

~Kaia Kanepi beaten no. 15 seed Carla Suarez Navarro 7:5 6:0. Kaia played very aggressive. Looks like she’s getting back in her form of the last year! 🙂

~Casey DellAcqua beaten Karolina Pliskova in a marathon 6:3 3:6 6:4. Casey played calm and steady and this is second time this year that DellAcqua reached second week of a Grand Slam. Well done Casey! 🙂

~Eugenie Bouchard survived another marathon against Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova 6:2 6:7(2) 6:4. Interesting thing is that Bouchard beaten Cirstea by the same score. The only thing that was different was the result in the tie-break.

Time for predictions! 🙂

Maria Sharapova vs Caroline Wozniacki

hi-res-0972a20c3210aee4b8eaadd4f6b13e2a_crop_northcaroline_2953414b

Wow! This will be epic! Maria played solid match against Lisicki. She won 6:2 6:4. Wozniacki was amazing in her match against Petkovic, she won 6:3 6:4. Maria will control points with her powerful shots from both sides. Caroline will play steady and patient tennis. With her well-angled shots she can force Maria to play more risky and she’ll make  more errors. Maria wasn’t on her best since Roland Garros, but she is a huge fighter and she’ll find a way to win this match, but it won’t be easy. If Maria plays her steady tennis in the end of the match, victory will be hers.

Prediction: Sharapova in 3 very tight sets

Jelena Jankovic vs Belinda Bencic

jelena-jankovic-us-open-foto-fonet-1409164797-558125 belinda-bencic-2014-u.s.-open-tennis-tournament-in-new-york-city-2nd-roud_1

Both players played amazing in their third round matches. Jelena destroyed Johanna Larsson 6:1 6:0. Belinda beaten Angelique Kerber in a high-quality match 6:1 7:5. Belinda saved 5 set points in the second set. This will be interesting match, both players can play good offensive and defensive tennis. Both players have similar play style, but biggest difference is that Jankovic have better serve. Belinda have strong forehand and backhand, while Jankovic have massive backhand, but solid forehand. This will be close match, but I believe that experience will prevail and that Jankovic will win this tight battle.

Prediction: Jankovic in 3 sets

Sara Errani vs Mirjana Lucic-Baroni

487-17xDYd.St.138 a0bfd769f3f333215e0f6a7067005ccf

Sara survided amazing battle against Venus Williams 6:0 0:6 7:6(5). Sara’s fighting spirit gave her this victory. Mirjana was amazing in her victory over world no.2 Simona Halep 7:6(6) 6:2. Almost everyone believe that Sara will win this, but Mirjana played amazing against world no. 2 and she’s really confident at the moment. Sara plays patient tennis with lot of variations. Her biggest weapon is her topspin forehand. Mirjana plays risky and powerful tennis and her biggest weapon is her forehand too, but her forehand is very flat. Mirjana is confident at this moment and she was in the semi-final of the Grand Slam before, so I believe she will manage to win this. Who knows, maybe she’ll reach SFs again! 😉

Prediction: Lucic-Baroni in 3 tight sets

Lucie Safarova vs Shuai Peng

Lucie Safarovapengshuai_getty290814

Lucie Safarova struggled against Alize Cornet in the third round, but she won 6:3 6:7(3) 6:4. This shows how Lucie has improved mentally this year.Peng played very well against Roberta Vinci, she won 6:4 6:3. This will be interesting match. Both players play very aggressive tennis. Lucie is left-handed and she have better serve than Peng. However, Shuai is capable of playing unpredictable shots. She can play powerful tennis, but she have good drops shot and net play too. This will be another close match, but Peng didn’t lose a set whole week and Lucie lost two sets in her last two matches, so I believe that Peng will manage to win this!

Prediction: Peng in 3 sets

I predicted that every match today will be three-setter. Will it happen? We’ll find out today! 🙂

~Vote for a player who will win US Open in your opinion!

Serena leads with 33 votes, Jankovic is second with 12 and Sharapova is third with 7 votes.

Note: Kvitova and Navarro are deleted from the poll because they lost their 3rd round matches yesterday! 🙂

US Open 2014 – day 5

Analysis of the previous day:

~Karolina Pliskova beaten seed no. 8 Ana Ivanovic 7:5 6:4. Ivanovic really struggles at the Grand Slams this year, but Karolina played great match.

~Nicole Gibbs beaten Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6:4 6:7(6) 6:3. Solid win for Nicole, but Pavs made too many errors.

~Aleksandra Krunic beaten American hope Madison Keys 7:6(4) 2:6 7:5. Krunic saved 5 set points in the first set. Even thought Madison wasn’t on her best, great win for Aleksandra anyway!

~Kaia Kanepi beaten Samantha Stosur 3:6 6:3 7:6(8). Kanepi saved 2 MPs. Good victory for Kaia.

~Zarina Diyas beaten 15-year old CiCi Bellis( girl who won against Cibulkova) 6:3 0:6 6:2. Rollercoaster match, but still good tournament for young American CiCi.

~Eugenie Bouchard survived Sorana Cirstea 6:2 6:7(4) 6:4. Very interesting match, Sorana finally started playing some good tennis.

Here we go…Predictions! 🙂

Maria Sharapova vs Sabine Lisicki

The Championships - Wimbledon 2013: Day Threesabine-lisicki35

Sharapova barely beaten Dulgheru 4:6 6:3 6:2. Maria didn’t play well, but she fought hard and she won. Sabine beaten Brengle 6:4 6:1. She played pretty well. This is a fantastic 3rd round match. Sabine have good serve, powerful flat strokes and good drop shot. Maria’s shots are not that flat, but she can keep attacking consistently. If Lisicki can play calm and aggressive, she can actually win this. However, Maria is just too stable in the end, so I don’t think that Sabine can cause an upset here. This will be close match, but Maria will survive this battle!

Prediction: Sharapova in 3 sets

Sara Errani vs Venus Williams

imagetennis-grand-slam-venus-williams-wimbledon-r2014_3163700

Sara finally started winning consecutive matches on the faster surfaces. She beaten Anastasia Rodionova in the 2nd round. It was solid performance from Sara. Venus played very good against Timea. We all know that Venus will be the one who is deciding everything – she’ll produce winners, she will make errors! Sara will keep pushing the ball in the court with her topspin and slice shots and she’ll chase down everything she can. Venus need to play calm and aggressive. After powerful shot, she must come to the net. Sara’s lack of power is exposed on the faster surfaces and i believe that Venus will finally reach second week of the Grand Slam for the first time since Wimbledon 2011.

Prediction: Venus in 3 sets

Shuai Peng vs Roberta Vinci

0022190dec4511c61a050e179530024JM00046_2014_Austr

Peng Shuai played amazing against Radwanska. She beaten Agnieszka in straight sets! Roberta struggled against Camelia begu, eventually winning that match 2:6 6:4 6:1. Peng will be more aggressive that Roberta because Peng is capable of producing powerful winner from both sides. Roberta have powerful forehand, slice backhand and good net play. This two players are biggest rivals in doubles which makes this match even more interesting. If Peng plays calm and if Roberta’s slices can’t affect Shuai’s mind, I think that Peng will reach another 4th round of the Grand Slam this year.

Prediction: Peng in 2 tight sets

Lucie Safarova vs Alize Cornet

Lucie+Safarova+Toray+Pan+Pacific+Open+Day+SS1UnaMNy8flAlize+Cornet+Hopman+Cup+Day+3+3JVKady7G7Rl

Lucie struggled against Saisai Zheng, but it was only because it’s hard for Lucie to deal with moonballs. Cornet played solid against Hantuchova, but Daniela is not playing well anymore. Lucie have powerful and unpredictable shots and good slice serve. Cornet have good topspin forehand, solid backhand and she’s using drop shots and slices very well. If Lucie can stay calm she can win this. This will be interesting match, but Lucie is more steadier now, so she’ll win this, but it won’t be easy.

Prediction: Safarova in 3 tight sets

Other predictions:

US Open 2014 – day 3

Analysis of the previous day:

~Marina Erakovic beaten Svetlana Kuznetsova in absolutely marathon 3:6 6:2 7:6(3). It was solid match from both players, especially for Erakovic. Svetlana double-faulted on the match point for Marina.

~Victoria Azarenka beaten Misaki Doi in tight three sets 6:7(3) 6:4 6:1. it was pretty interesting match. Victoria wasn’t on her best, but Misaki played pretty well.

~ 15-year old CiCi Bellis beaten Dominika Cibulkova 6:1 4:6 6:4. It was CiCi’s first top 100 and top 20 opponent. Match wasn’t streamed. Good win for young American. This was the upset of the tournament so far.

~Petra Kvitova destroyed Kristina Mladenovic. She lost just one game. Result was 6:1 6:0

~Serena Williams beaten fellow American Taylor Townsend 6:3 6:1. Serena played great. However, good experience for Townsend. This was her first top 10 opponent.

Now it’s time for today’s predictions! 😀

Agnieszka Radwanska vs Shuai Peng

Agnieszka+Radwanska+Wimbledon+Tennis+Championships+unohUHQ_NYal0022190dec4511c61a050e

Agnieszka played amazing against Fichman. She had 23 winners and just 6 unforced errors! Peng played very well against Zheng. This match will be interesting because both players are very unique. Agnieszka is capable of making drop shots from the behind the baseline and from the run! Her creative slices, lobs, drop shots, well-angled shots and her movement brought her to the top 5 of the tennis world. Radwanska should be careful because Peng is not a easy opponent. Peng plays powerful with her two-handed shots, she’s good at the net( she was no.1 in the doubles this year) and she knows to mix her game with drop shots. Peng won’t give Radwanska easy victory., but Aga will win in two sets. In two close sets!

Prediction: Radwanska in 2 tight sets

Jelena Jankovic vs Tsvetana Pironkova

Jelena+Jankovic+Internazionali+BNL+Italia+MFzEVHBZCBnlphoto_verybig_117701

Jankovic played amazing against Jovanovski. Her backhand was amazing and it all was backed-up with her forehand and movement. i love to see when JJ is playing aggressive like this. Tsvetana beaten Knapp in 2 sets. Tsvetana had solid year, winning her first title in Sydney, beating Errani, Kvitova and Kerber along the way, all in straight sets! Since that, Tsvetana played with ups and downs. Jankovic knows that Pironkova is not easy opponent. She need to control game with her backhand. Tsvetana, however, have good forehand slice and she can neutralise power of JJ’s forehand with it. Jelena must play patient and aggressive tennis if she wants to beat Pironkova. Tsvetana’s flat shots can cause a problem for Jelena, but she’ll win this match anyway.

Prediction: Jankovic in 2 sets

Alize Cornet vs Daniela Hantuchova

Alize+Cornet+Hopman+Cup+Day+3+3JVKady7G7Rl Daniela+Hantuchova+WTA+Dubai+Duty+Free+Tennis+K9zlhMh3Boel

Alize had good year, full of amazing wins( against Serena- TWICE) and shocking loses( against Kontaveit). Daniela struggles with her form, she’s barely beating low-ranked opponents and that matches she won because she’s a fighter, not because she played well. Hantuchova only played well at the Roland Garros. This will be match with lot of long points. Alize will use her topspin forehand, good backhand, slices and drop shots to confuse Daniela. However, Hantuchova knows how to fight with that because of her experience. Alize’s fast running will make Daniela play to risky and that will mean a lot of errors for her. Hantuchova is a fighter, just like Alize, but she can only take a set, i don’t think she’ll be able to cause an upset here.

Prediction: Cornet in 3 sets( two easy sets for Cornet, one tight for Hantuchova)

Sloane Stephens vs Johanna Larsson

????????johanna-larsson100111

Since American tour started, Stephens is playing well. She lost both times to Jankovic in Montreal and Cincinnati. Larsson is playing her best tennis on the clay. This year wasn’t really good for her, except reaching 3rd of the Roland Garros, beating  Kirilenko and Penetta along the way. Stephens will be more aggressive in this match and she’ll be the one who is deciding the points – with winner of with error. Johanna can make thing interesting if she have a good day. Her steady topspin shots can good weapon( if she’s not sending it on Sloane’s atomic forehand). However, Stephens is powerful and fast, so i don’t think that Johanna’s solid game will cause a problems for Stephens in her own country.

Prediction: Stephens in 2 sets

Other prediction:

Bencic df. Nara in 3 tight sets

Vinci df. Begu in 3 sets

Kerber df. Kudryavtseva in 2 sets

Safarova df. Sa. Zheng in 2 sets

Petkovic df. Puig in 3 sets

Halep df. Cepelova in 2 sets

Lucic-Baroni df. Peer in 3 sets

Wozniacki df. Sasnovich in 2 sets

Lisicki df. Brengle in 2 sets

Sharapova df. Dulgheru in 2 sets

Errani df. Ar.Rodionova in 3 sets

Venus df. Bacsinszky in 2 sets

US Open 2014 – day 1

I can’t hide how excited I am about last Grand Slam of the season 2014. Today I will analyse five matches instead of four, because there’s lot of great matches! When you read my predictions, you can vote for a player who will win US Open 2014 in your opinion on the bottom of the page 🙂

Venus Williams vs Kimiko Date-Krumm

0,,12781~9752553,00

When we mention these two, It’s hard not to remember their fantastic match at Wimbledon 2011. One of the best matches ever! Venus showed her good form in Montreal where she reached finals. Kimiko struggles with her form lately, but it’s not surprising. She’ 43! I think that both ladies can show how it’s important to never give up. Venus will control game with her massive shots. Kimiko will chase down everything she can and she’ll wait for opportunity to absorb Venus’ power and send even more powerful shot. Kimiko has good hands at the net, flat strokes, good slice and good drop shot. However, I think that she will be able to handle pressure of Williams’ power just for one set. This will be fun match to watch, but Venus should have no problem to win this.

Prediction: Venus in 2 sets( one tight, one easy )

Maria Sharapova vs Maria Kirilenko

Maria+Sharapova+Maria+Kirilenko+2010+Australian+yd-X-Tz9EWdl

Maria plays against Maria! Sharapova had fantastic year highlighted with her victory at French Open. Kirilenko, however, struggles with her form. She showed that she’s still capable of playing well in her match against Stephens which was fantastic. Kirilenko needs to play patient and aggressive if she wants to harm Sharapova. Sharapova is more powerful of these two, so she’ll be the aggressor in this match. Kirilenko need to slow down rallies with her two-handed slice and to try to draw errors from Maria. This will be close match, but Maria will win it in two sets.

Prediction: Sharapova in 2 tight sets

Jelena Jankovic vs Bojana Jovanovski

Bojana+Jovanovski+2014+Australian+Open+Day+tHhGiJ6Me2bl Jelena+Jankovic+Internazionali+BNL+Italia+MFzEVHBZCBnl

Two Serbs plays against each other for fourth time. Jankovic leads 2-1. Jankovic had solid year, but she struggles with form lately. Jovanovski had solid year too, but I know that she is capable of doing more damage on the WTA tour. Jovanovski is not that powerful like Serena or others, but she’s really aggressive and patient. However, Bojana’s game is one-sided. She’s just a baseliner and she only hits normal shots without some variations. She’s pretty powerless at the net. Jelena needs to exploit Bojana’s weaknesses with lot of variations. With deep balls, drop shots and going to the net she’ll make Bojana nervous. Jankovic can control game with her massive backhand too. Jovanovski will fight till the bitter end, but JJ will win this in two.

Prediction: Jankovic in 2 sets

Shuai Peng vs Jie Zheng

0022190dec4511c61a050e Zheng-Jie-Dubai-2009_1869613

Peng against Zheng. This should be interesting. This two met last time in 2010. Both players are aggressive and they love to play on the grass. Peng have two-handed forehand, unpredictable shots and she’s good at the net.Her favorite shot is forehand, but her backhand is her better shot. She have good drop shot too. Zheng is aggressive and quick around the court. Her better shot is forehand which is more powerful. In this match, lot of points will be very interesting and creative. Peng is in better form this year, so I believe she’ll win this. However, Zheng plays her best tennis at Grand Slams and maybe she’ll surprise us.

Prediction: Peng in 3 sets

Sabine Lisicki vs Francoise Abanda

sabine-lisicki-wimbledon-tennis-championships-2014-2nd-round_1602791-francoise-abanda

I was really hoping that Abanda will get some easy opponent in first round, but that didn’t happen. Abanda played amazing in qualies, losing just six games in 3 matches! However, main draw is something different. Lisicki is very hard opponent. Sabine have powerful flat strokes and she knows to surprise her opponent with drop shots. Abanda have powerful forehand and solid net skills. The only chance that Abanda have is that Lisicki don’t know her play style. Francoise will show flashes of brilliance, but Lisicki will prevail in two.

Prediction: Lisicki in 2 sets

Other predictions:

Halep df. Rose Collins in 2 sets

Radwanska df. Fichman in 2 sets

Stephens df. Beck in 2 tight sets

Kerber df. Pervak in 2 sets

Wozniacki df. Rybarikova in 2 tight sets
