TOP 5 matches from WTA Finals 2014!!!

~Top 5 matches!

5. Caroline Wozniacki df. Maria Sharapova 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 6-2

Very long and very interesting match. It wasn’t high-quality match, but it was very exciting and interesting! Sharapova kept coming back, but she was too tired in that third set.

4.Maria Sharapova df. Agnieszka Radwanska 7-5 6-7(4) 6-2

Another long and exciting match. Radwanska came back from 1-5 and 3 match points down in 2nd set, but Sharapova eventually prevailed in 3rd set. That 2nd set that Agnieszka managed to win gave her a ticket to the SFs!

3.Serena Williams df. Caroline Wozniacki 2-6 6-3 7-6(6)

Highest quality match of the tournament. It was tight and interesting, but Serena showed why she’s still world number 1. Really interesting match, but there are 2 more interesting matches!

2.Serena Williams df. Simona Halep 6-3 6-0

Serena beaten Simona to win WTA Finals for the 3rd consecutive time. Serena was just too good, but Simona was far from her best. This match was Serena’s revenge!

1.Simona Halep df. Serena Williams 6-0 6-2

This match is probably most interesting and surprising match of this tournament. Simona Halep destroyed Serena Williams in a weird match. Serena played very bad, but Simona was just too good!

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – SERENA ON TOP OF THE WORLD AGAIN!!!

Final result: Serena Williams defeated Simona Halep 6-3 6-0

8 ladies came to Singapore with ambition to win this amazing tournament, but only 2 of them could reach finals. Serena Williams and Simona Halep did that. Simona started match better than Serena. Crucial moment was when Halep had 2-1 and 40-15 lead. In that moment, Simona made some unexpected errors and Serena broke back. After that, it was all about Williams. From 1-2 down, Serena won 11 of next 12 games.I thought that this will be tight match, but Serena showed that she is still world no. 1. Halep was far from her best today. She was too passive and Serena controlled almost all rallies. Match was interesting, but I expected better resistance from Simona. Both ladies had amazing week and they both have my respect. Simona is still young and her time will come. Williams was just too good today. Congratulations Serena! Congratulations Simona! See you both next year! 🙂

NOTE: I’ll publish later top 5 matches from WTA Finals this year in my opinion. My schedule for next few weeks – WTA Sofia, maybe some WTA125k and some ITF tournaments and … you’ll see! 😉

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Serena vs Simona, Peng/Hsieh vs Black/Mirza

Sorry for the lack of updates last 3 days. I was watching all the matches this week and I’ll do recap of WTA Finals 2014. Now I’ll do preview for Serena vs Simona and it’s not my last prediction this season. I’ll do some predictions for Sofia next week and then I’ll write about rising stars that have a lot of potential, but they are still really young. Some of them are already famous, some of them still wait to break through. But now…Serena vs Simona preview! 🙂

Serena Williams vs Simona Halep

Serena player really great, but Simona embarrassed her this week by her impressive victory. First, Serena beaten  Ivanovic 6-4 6-4 in an really interesting and close match. Main difference was that Serena had 12 aces and Ana had 7 double faults! It looked like Serena is again on her best and then it happened…Simona destroyed Serena in an one-sided match 6-0 6-2. It was one of the worst performances by Williams EVER, but Simona played absolutely stunning. She saved all break points she faced and she showed the world of what she’s capable of. Serena was clearly disappointed by her performance, but she bounced back in her next match. She outclassed Bouchard 6-1 6-1. It was great performance by Williams, but there was nothing else that Serena could do. It all depended on Simona and Ana. Simona was really solid in her 1st match against Bouchard. Halep beaten her 6-2 6-3. Halep wasn’t on her best in that match, but she still managed to beat Eugenie easily. After that, as I already mentioned, Simona destroyed Serena and it was her 1st win against world no. 1. Then Simona played against Ivanovic. All was clear – If Ana beat Simona in straight sets she goes to the SFs; if Simona takes only one set Serena goes to the SFs. Ana managed to win extremely tight first set after she came back from 2-5 down. She saved set point in tie-break too. Simona won second set and helped Serena to reach SFs. Ana eventually won in the end 7-6(7) 3-6 6-3 but she was already out of tournament. Credit to Simona for her fighting spirit. She knew she reached SFs, but she played pretty well and fought well. Serena beaten her best friend Wozniacki in SFs in extremely tight and high-quality match 2-6 6-3 7-6(6). It was one of the best matches this year. Simona played absolutely stunning against Radwanska. She won 6-2 6-2. Aga was too passive but Simona played extremely well. This match will be the rematch of their RR match! Simona won’t win easily this time, that’s sure. Both are playing really aggressive. Simona showed that she have enough power to be aggressive against everyone on WTA tour, especially in her matches against Serena and Ivanovic. Williams is more powerful, but Halep is faster! This match is so hard to predict, but I think that Serena will avenge her embarrassing loss to Halep. Simona played superb this week so she really have a chance in this match. This match will be extremely close but I believe that Serena will prevail. I’m just hoping that this will be high-quality and interesting match!

Prediction: Serena in 3 tight sets

Shuai Peng/Su-Wei Hsieh vs Cara Black/Sania Mirza

Short preview: Peng and Hsieh have a chance to defend their WTA Finals title. They’ll play for the trophy against Black and Mirza. Both teams have a lot of experience, but I must say that Peng and Hsieh are favorites. Shuai and Su-Wei have a unique play style and they’re a great team. Both play forehand and backhand with two hands and their play style is a mix of tricky lobs and moonballs, wicked slices, powerful groundstrokes and great net skills. Sania’s and Cara’s play style is pretty aggressive. They have powerful shots and of course, great net skills. Hsieh and Peng have more variety so I believe that they will win this match!

Prediction: Peng/Hsieh in 3 sets

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Serena vs Simona, Eugenie vs Ana

Serena Williams vs Simona Halep

Serena played superb against Ivanovic. She won 6-4 6-4. Serena fired 12 aces and 4 double faults compared to Ana’s zero aces and 7 double faults. It was a high-quality match and both played well. Match was full of stunning rallies and amazing shots. Simona played really well against Bouchard. Eugenie made far too many errors but Simona was very calm and steady. Looks like she’s back on the top of her game.  This match is very exciting for me. Serena leads against Simona in their head-2-head 3-0 but their last match was in Cincinnati last year. Simona took away one set from Serena but it was in 2011 at Wimbledon.  Serena will play her extremely aggressive tennis and she’ll control most of the points with her massive serves and powerful groundstrokes. Against Ivanovic, Serena showed her hunger and desire to win title in Singapore so I believe that Williams will be extra motivated to win this match. Simona will play her consistent tennis. She’ll chase down everything she can and she’ll try to be aggressive from the baseline. Simona is playing very well in this moment but Serena is a whole new level. Halep will give her best but it won’t be enough to harm current world no. 1.

Prediction: Serena in 2 tight sets

Ana Ivanovic vs Eugenie Bouchard

Ana played very solid against Serena. She had problems with her serve but everything else was on her standard level. She dropped her serve in the end of both sets. Eugenie played on very low level against Halep. Maybe she had a problem with her injury, maybe she was nervous…Who knows! But if she continues to play on that level, she’ll stay winless in Singapore. Against in-form Ivanovic, she needs to play her best tennis. Bouchard leads against Ivanovic in their head-2-head 2-0. They played one of those matches at this year’s Australian Open in QFs. Eugenie won 5-7 7-5 6-2. Both are really aggressive and powerful. Ana’s biggest strength is, as always, her forehand. However, her forehand is nicely backed up with solid backhand, tricky slices, drop shots, net play and some defensive shots too. Bouchard  takes the ball early so Ana won’t have a lot of time to react. Eugenie is playing very risky and she’s dangerous opponent when she’s on. Honestly, I don’t think that Eugenie will beat Ana but Wozniacki and Radwanska proved that everything is possible. Ana was more consistent this year so I think she’ll win this match. It won’t be easy but she’ll score her 1st win in Singapore! 😉

Prediction: Ivanovic in 3 sets

Tuesday results:

~ Caroline Wozniacki df. Maria Sharapova 7-6(4) 6-7(5) 6-2 — It wasn’t high-quality match but it was really interesting. Maria kept coming back but in the end she was just too tired. I didn’t expect this result but all credit goes to Caroline! Well done! 🙂

~Agnieskza Radwanska df. Petra Kvitova 6-2 6-3 — Radwanska was at her magical best against Petra. She had some amazing shots and she was very consistent. Petra made a lot of errors but Agnieszka was just too solid. Well done! 🙂

~Monica Puig df. Saisai Zheng 6-4 6-3 — I wasn’t watching this match but well done Monica. She scored 4 wins at this rising stars event and she really deserved this trophy. She beaten Diyas, Rogers and Zheng( twice ). Well done Puig! 🙂

WTA Finals in Singapore 2014 – Serena vs Ana, Simona vs Eugenie

Serena Williams vs Ana Ivanovic

Serena had an amazing year. She won 6 titles this year( Brisbane, Miami, Rome, Stanford, Cincinnati and most important of all – US Open); reached 2 SFs( Dubai and Montreal) and 2 QFs( Madrid and Beijing). She had some shocking losses (to Cepelova, Cornet, Muguruza etc.) but she won 6 titles so that losses are basically irrelevant. Ana had a great year too. After few forgettable years she found her form again. She won 4 titles this year( Auckland, Monterrey, Birmingham and Tokyo); reached 2 finals( Stuttgart and Cincinnati); 2 SFs( Rome and Beijing) and 3 QFs( Australian Open, Madrid and Stanford). Ana is again dangerous opponent. Serena leads against Ivanovic in their head-2-head 7-1 but they had some really competitive matches this year. Actually, Ana won their first match this year in 4th round of the Australian Open 4-6 6-3 6-3. Then, Serena avenged her loss in Rome SFs with victory 6-1 3-6 6-1. Their next match was in Stanford QFs where Williams edged Ivanovic 2-6 6-3 7-5. Their last match was in Cincinnati finals where Serena won comfortably 6-4 6-1. This match will be their 5th match this year! Serena-Ivanovic was a great rivalry this year. Serena struggled with injuries lately but she looks ready for this tournament. Ana struggled with injuries too but, just like Serena, she’s ready now. Ana is a player with most wins this year but Serena won’t allow her to score another. Serena will play her extremely aggressive game. With her powerful ground-strokes and massive serves she’ll control a lot of rallies. However, Ana showed this year that she’s not afraid of Williams. She’ll use her atomic forehand and variations to fight against Williams. Both players are fast and they have good court coverage. Ana will maybe take a set but healthy Serena is just too powerful and flawless.

Prediction: Serena in 3 sets

Eugenie Bouchard vs Simona Halep

Eugenie had her breakthrough year, she played especially well at Grand Slams. She reached a 2nd week of all four of them. She won 1 title this year (Nurnberg); reached 2 finals( Wimbledon and Wuhan); 3 SFs( Australian Open, Charleston and French Open) and 2 QFs( Acapulco and Oeiras). She had 9 1st round exits but like I said, she was very consistent at Slams. Simona had her breakthrough year too, but she showed some indications when she won her 1st six titles last year. She won 2 titles this year( Doha and Bucharest ), reached 2 finals( Madrid and French Open), 2 SFs( Indian Wells and Wimbledon) and 3 QFs( Australian Open, Cincinnati and Beijing). Great year for Simona but she’s struggling with her form lately, mostly because of injuries. These two played two times and their head-to-head is 1-1. Their both matches were played this year. Halep won their 1st match in the 4th round of Indian Wells 6-2 1-6 6-4. Bouchard avenged her loss in the SFs of Wimbledon 7-6(5) 6-2. Simona and Eugenie are playing their 1st YEC. I think that both truly deserve their place here. Eugenie will be the aggressor in this match. She takes a ball early so Simona won’t have a lot of time to react. Bouchard have flat and powerful shots and she’s really dangerous when she’s on. With some steady shots and drive volleys she have what it takes to beat Halep. Simona is aggressive baseliner. She’s really fast and she can easily turn defence into offense. She have good forehand and solid backhand. I’m not sure that Simona is fully recovered because she’s struggling with injuries since Bucharest so I’ll give Bouchard the advantage. I think that Simona will fight until the end but Bouchard will take this match in two sets.

Prediction: Bouchard in 2 very tight sets

I can’t hide how excited I am right now. This group is just awesome! 😀

~ Serena and Ana will play their FIFTH match this year. It was one of the most interesting rivalries of the year!

~ Simo and Genie will play their 3rd match this year. Battle of future world no.1’s  in my opinion!

~ Serena will play against Simona and Eugenie for the first time this year. Simply amazing!

~ Ana will play against Simona and Eugenie. Chance to avenge her losses to both of them this year!

See y’all tomorrow! I’m hoping that we’ll all enjoy in all of these matches! 🙂

Tomorrow : Predictions for Sharapova – Wozniacki and Kvitova – Radwanska! 🙂

Wuhan 2014 – day 3

Serena Williams vs Alize Cornet

This is Serena’s first tournament since US Open. She won her Grand Slam title no. 18. I don’t think she’ll stop there. She’s still hungry for more titles. Alize played good too. She reached finals in Guangzhou where she lost to Niculescu 6:4 6:0. She won her 1st round match here easily 6:2 6:1 These 2 played 2 times this year and ALIZE WON BOTH MATCHES. Serena is surely seeking revenge. Serena is in great form right now. Since Wimbledon, she lost only one match (to her sister Venus)! Serena will fire her aces and powerful groundstrokes all over the court. With that type of game, she’ll beat Cornet without a mercy. Alize can try do disrupt Serena’s rhythm with her topspin shots and slices, but I don’t think that someone can beat Serena 3 times in a row in one year – especially not Alize.

Prediction: Serena in 2 sets( one tight, one easy )

Simona Halep vs Garbine Muguruza

Simona is struggling with her form right now. She lost 2 of her last 4 matches. Especially shocking was her loss to Lucic-Baroni at US Open. Lucic-Baroni was outside the top 100 in that moment. Garbine is in a good form. She reached SFs in Tokyo where she lost to Wozniacki in 3 sets. However, she barely beaten Torro-Flor in the first round – 4:6 6:4 6:4. I believe that Garbine will play much better against Simona. Muguruza will be the aggressor in this match. With her super aggressive game she’ll control the points. Her aggressive game will be backed-up with her good net play. Simona will stay close to the baseline. She’ll be aggressive from there, she’ll be good in defense from there too.  I believe that Garbine will use Simona’s luck of self-confidence to beat her and to continue her good run of form. We’ll see what will happen here. I’m hoping that Halep will find some form soon.

Prediction: Muguruza in 3 tight sets

Jelena Jankovic vs Coco Vandeweghe

Jelena Jankovic of Serbia returns a shot to Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden during their match at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Flushing Meadows, New York.Coco-Vandeweghe-img13360_668

Jelena is not in a good form. Since her loss to Errani in Rome, she can lose to almost anyone. She beaten McHale in the first round in straight sets 6:4 6:4. She won than match easier than I expected. Coco played very well too in her first round match. She beaten Beck 6:3 6:2. Coco will be more aggressive in this match. With her massive groundstrokes and powerful serves, she’ll control most of the points. Jankovic will try to play as aggressive as she can. Her main weapon will be her powerful backhand. She’ll try to chase down everything she can and she’ll fight until the end. However, JJ is capable of making lot of errors( like against Muguruza in Tokyo) so I believe that Coco will win this match. Especially because she won their last meeting 7:6 2:6 7:5.

Prediction: Vandeweghe in 3 sets

Eugenie Bouchard vs Mona Barthel

Apart from Grand Slam, Eugenie is struggling with her form. Her last match was against Makarova in the 4th round at the US Open. She lost that match in straight sets. Barthel is struggling with her form too, but she played really well in her first round match. She beaten new Chinese no. 1 6:2 7:6(1). Both players are playing pretty aggressive. Genie takes the ball earlier, so she’s taking time from her opponents too. Mona have clean flat shots and these shots can be very dangerous. Eugenie must play well if she wants to beat Mona. She must be very aggressive and she must keep coming to the net to finish the points. Mona already played one match, so I think she’ll have some type of advantage. However, I believe than Bouchard will be stronger in the end.

Prediction: Bouchard in 3 tight sets

Other predictions:

Makarova df. Bacsinszky in 2 tight sets

Errani df. Riske in 2 sets

Lisicki df. Svitolina in 3 sets

Ka.Pliskova df. Petkovic in 3 sets

Keys df. Zahlavova-Strycova in 3 tight sets

US Open 2014 – day 2

Surprise of the day: Halep lost a set to unranked American wildcard

maxresdefaultDanielle Rose

First set was tight, Simona Halep was up 3:1, but Danielle Rose Collins quickly rebound. They didn’t lose their serves until the tie-break. Tie-break was one-sided. Simona won just two points and she lost first set. It was massive surprise. However, Halep rebound in second and third set and she eventually beaten American 6:7(2) 6:1 6:2. Collins had flashes of brilliance after first set too, but she didn’t manage to win more that 3 games in both sets. But still, Collins did a great job in first set and she can be proud of herself! Halep have a lot to think about. 🙂

Serena Williams vs Taylor Townsend

I can’t hide how excited I am because of this match. One of the best tennis players ever against rising star. Serena played well on the American tour, losing just one match to her sister Venus in semi-final of Montreal. Taylor is playing well this year, but she loses focus sometimes without visible reason. Serena will play aggressive. She’ll use her powerful shots to keep Townsend behind the baseline. However, Taylor will fire bach. She is full of  weapons – massive shots, good slice and drop shot, amazing net skills…I think this will be high-quality and interesting match, but Serena will prevail in two  sets. I can’t wait to watch this!

Prediction: Serena in 2 sets( one tight, one easy )

Petra Kvitova vs Kristina Mladenovic

Aegon International - Day Two Kristina-Mladenovic---Wimbledon-2013-Day-1--14

Petra have tough match at the start of the US Open. Kvitova was playing magnificent in the New Haven, she won a second title of the year without dropping a set! Kristina struggles with her form this year, but she’s always dangerous. Even thought she’s not playing that well this year, she managed to upset Simona Halep and Na Li.  This will be exciting hard-hitting battle. Both players are very powerful and they play very risky. In this match, there won’t be a lot of long points because they both hitting the ball as hard as they can. This will be tight match, but P3tra will prevail in the end.

Prediction: Kvitova in 3 tight sets

Ana Ivanovic vs Alison Riske

Ana is playing amazing this year. She had a lot of titles, finals, semi-finals…She’s one of the favourites for the title in my opinion. Riske had solid year, but that’s it. I think that she have a potential to do much bigger thing. However, her risky game is  two-sided. She can hit amazing winners, she can miss easy shots. Last year she reached 4th round, but I don’t think she’ll be able to do it again. Ana will use her variations to completely disarm Riske. Ana’s powerful forehand, solid backhand, good slice, good net play and amazing drop shot will prevail. i think that American will take a set because she’s playing well in NYC, but Ana will win third set comfortably.

Predictio: Ivanovic in 3 sets

Aleksandra Krunic vs Katarzyna Piter

aleksandra-krunic-otvoreno-prvenstvo-australije-1328585176-121180 169595

I wanted to analyse some match between players who are not that famous and I’ve chosen this one. Aleksandra played pretty good in qualifying and we’ll see if she can replicate her form in this match. Both players prefer clay as their favorite surface. Krunic plays with lot of topspin and she knows how to mix the game with drop shots. Piter is fast defensive player who can chase down lot of balls. However, Krunic loves US Open and she’s playing well here. Piter is powerless on the faster surfaces and I believe that Krunic will manage to win this. We’ll see what will happen!

Prediction: Krunic in 3 sets
